Pokemon Legends: Arceus has introduced some entirely new catch mechanics to the series. You can capture any pokemon you can see in the wild, but that may prove a bigger challenge than many people expected. Cherrim the Blossom Pokemon is apparently ‘immune’ to Ultra Balls, making it very hard to catch.
Cherrim is a cute pokemon that changes its form depending on the weather. During normal weather, it appears as a tightly curled flower bud. Cherrim opens wide to look like a sun when the weather is Sunny out. So what makes Cherrim the hardest pokemon to catch? Certainly not it’s disposition, as it is one of the easier pokemon.
The issue is that Cherrim doesn’t like to stay in the PokeBall after trainers throw it. Players on Twitter are reporting spending hours trying to catch a single Cherrim. “The Cherrim found on the bottom part of The Lonely Spring may have a bugged catch rate,” reads one tweet. “Three of us have spend the past three hours trying to catch it, but it wouldn’t capture. Then each of us tried the top part of the area, and almost instantly caught it.”

The official Japanese Twitter account for Pokemon Legends: Arceus has acknowledged this as a legitimate bug. If Cherrim changes form once, the glitch sets its catch rate to zero. Players will have a better chance of catching Cherrim if it hasn’t switched forms.
So far, there is no information on when the bug will be fixed. There are a few other issues that have been encountered during launch week, so it’s likely the development team is prepping a patch for the game.
