Here’s a peek at everything Nintendo announced for the Mario Kart 8 DLC pack on Switch.
While Mario Kart 8 started out as a Wii U game, Nintendo has continued support for the title on Nintendo Switch. A newly released Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pack will bring a total of 48 new courses over the next few months – into 2023. Some of the courses that are making a return are from the GameBoy Advance days.
When does the Mario Kart 8 DLC pack release?
The first wave of new DLC was made available on March 18, 2022. Nintendo plans on extending waves with new courses and cups throughout the rest of the year. The full DLC pack will contain 48 courses once the final wave hits.

How much does the DLC pack cost?
Nintendo is once again offering two methods to pay for the DLC, just like they did with the Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC pack. You can pay a one-time price of $24.99 and own all 48 courses when they release as scheduled. However, if you decide to buy the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass, access to additional courses are provided at no cost.
Do you need the DLC pack to play the new courses in Mario Kart 8?
Nintendo has confirmed that only one person in an online game lobby needs to own the DLC pack or have access to it with a Nintendo Switch Online Expansion membership. Courses from Wave 1 entered the random rotation for regional and global online games on March 22.

The first wave of this DLC pack includes the Golden Dash Cup and the Lucky Cat Cup tracks.
