Star fragments are needed for a variety of DIY recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Celeste periodically shows up on your island, offering a random DIY recipe for that month’s constellation.
But did you know there is a limit to the number of star fragments you can earn? ACNH meteor shower parties are a great way to earn extra fragments, since your friend’s wishes count, too.

Claiming Star Fragments
After you attend an ACNH meteor shower, the star fragments will appear the next day on your beach. Up to ten star fragments at a time will spawn on your beach. As you pick them up, more will spawn throughout the day.
By yourself, you can only earn a maximum of 20 star fragments in an Animal Crossing meteor shower.
That means wishes after 20 will not count toward anything. Inviting friends to your island will grant you an additional 20 star fragments – if your visitors wish over 100 times. That’s 20 wishes for five visitors for everyone to receive the max star fragments.
The breakdown on that is one star fragment per five wishes a visitor makes, up to a maximum of four fragments per visitor. Every month the available zodiac star changes. These fragments correspond to the respective dominant zodiac for that day.

You have a 10% chance to receive a star fragment of the current zodiac. Here’s the monthly breakdown for when each zodiac date cuts off. Notice most zodiac dates cut off around the 20-23 of each month.
